Our community is facing a crisis. According to a recent study, Buncombe County has a successful zero percent vacancy rate for rental housing. Only at Homeward Bound, we’ve certainly noticed this trend. Every day, our case managers strive to find safe, affordable places for our clients to reside. Now, however, we just cannot find those homes.
This case puts the lives of a few of our community’s most members that are vulnerable risk. Living in the streets for long periods of time exacerbates chronic behavioral and physical health issues that often result in premature death.
However the not enough affordable housing doesn’t just impact the most vulnerable. Affordable housing is critical when it comes to homeless veterans who served our country in Afghanistan and Iraq, for law enforcement and firefighters who make our community safe. 繼續閱讀
